about

My artistic practice is a means of striving to understand what we are and where we are, in the deepest sense, by investigating the borderline between human structures and nature’s creative processes. I believe that this understanding is crucial to every aspect of how we live our lives, from our relationships, to our careers, to our politics. My process is based in tactile-kinesthetic conversation with material. I feel this conversation to be of utmost importance in our digital instant and incessant information age, to keep us grounded in deep-time physical reality. It is a rich vein of metaphor for natural limits both physical and mental. I am interested in modes of creating in which complexity arises out of the aggregation of simple, cyclical actions, such as drawing patterns, or carving, or stitching. Nature’s grandest designs are created through such incremental, mundane processes.
